An interesting piece in the FT recently talked about diversity in the Airline sector, stemming from a comment made by the CEO of Qatar Airlines.
We work with a number of executive recruiters operating in both this sector– firms such as Horizon Executive Search are focused exclusively on this space (no pun intended) while we are also well represented in the associated Aerospace sector – Collingwood would be an example of such a client.
Of course, many of our global clients are generalists and will have practices targeting these sectors also – I know that both DHR International and Boyden do, for example.
As a result, I thought it would be interesting to look “under the lid” and search what the GatedTalent executive membership population is like in this sector. I found that the “Air Transportation” sector is in the top 100 sectors by current position, while Aerospace makes the top 25.
If your background is in either the Airline or the Aerospace sector (or anything else beginning with A, or any other letter!) and you are interested in being “on the radar” of search firms from more than 29 countries Worldwide, I’d encourage you to create a profile on GatedTalent – it’s both free and confidential.
In response to a question about the underrepresentation of women in Middle Eastern airlines, Mr Baker said of his job as head of Qatar Airways: “Of course it has to be led by a man, because it is a very challenging position.”
